What are good works?
Let’s start with a question someone asked. “What are good works?” To be honest, I can’t categorically define good works. Doing a good work is individual principles regarding right and wrong. What are good works depend on the doer’s motive and the receiver’s context. People vary in characteristic and cognitive abilities. What is good to one person may be bad to another person. Precisely, there is no perfection in the world. There is nothing as bad or good work. The bible says no one is good likewise also no work can be specifically classified as good or good enough. My questions are: Do you feel good about doing the work? Is it an act of kindness without seeking for a return or approval from men? However, Perfect Love describes good works according to the motive and intent behind the works with reference to infallible words of truth in order to determine good works. If what you say or do brings honors to Christ and blesses someone. Then you are doing a good job or work. On the other hand, if what you say or do brings dishonor to the name of Christ, or humiliates or hurts someone, you could be doing bad work.
“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things (Philippians 4:8 KJV)
